Fincas Mierisch is a family-run coffee company spanning 14 farms across Matagalpa, Jinotega, and Comayagua. Each farm has distinct soil and microclimates, while Cerro Azul, Santa Lucia, and Lalita are located at higher elevations in the Rio Blanco area.

The company began in the late 1800s when German geologist Bruno Mierisch received land in Matagalpa as payment for railway work. He planted the family’s first coffee trees at Las Lajas in 1908, and the farm remains under Mierisch ownership today. Now managed by the third, fourth, and fifth generations, the family shifted from commercial to specialty coffee and developed international recognition.

La Huella, acquired in 2014, lies in Nicaragua’s Arenal Nature Reserve and is naturally cooled by fog covering the farm much of the day. It is known for its H1 variety, which placed second in the 2017 Nicaragua Cup of Excellence, as well as Yellow and Red Pacamara coffees processed using Natural Cold Anaerobic methods.
