José Osman Martínez faced many challenges at the start of his coffee growing journey, including difficult climate conditions, unsuitable coffee varieties, and limited experience. Through dedication and perseverance over the past decade, he expanded his farm from just half a hectare to 2.8 hectares, naming it La Arada (“the plow”).

Committed to sustainability, José adopted eco-friendly practices such as Ecopil technology, which replaces plastic seedling packaging with biodegradable materials, and intercropping coffee trees with native Inga trees to maintain soil health. His focus on innovation, quality improvement, and experimentation with coffee processing has earned him several awards, making him a respected example of balancing high-quality coffee production with environmental conservation.
