The Alvarez family has been growing award- winning coffee in El Salvador for over 100 years across four generations. Their farms, La Reforma and Santa Maria, are located on the volcanic slopes of Santa Ana and were established in 1892 by Rafael Alvarez Lalinde, a Colombian immigrant who brought his best coffee seeds to the region.

The current generation, the Alvarez Diaz brothers, continues the family tradition by exclusively growing red bourbon variety coffee trees despite their susceptibility to coffee leaf rust. They use sustainable practices including native shade cultivation and strict pruning schedules to maintain tree health and soil conservation.
